Magdalena en Ossuccio, uno de los emblemas del lago,
que se encuentra al pie del Sacro Monte di Ossuccio,
sembrado de capillas. Esa iglesia tiene su origen pre-
rrománica, seguramente del siglo II d.C. La cual solía
estar anexa a un hospital que albergaba los peregrinos
en la época medieval. El oratorio luce su arquitectura
románica pero lo que más destaca es su peculiar cam-
panario. Muy cerca se encuentra Giulino di Mezzegra
donde Mussolini y su amante fueron arrestados y eje-
cutados en 1945.
Pasamos a Sala Comacina, hermoso puerto con
su iglesia adornada con frescos y la elegante Villa de
Cesare Beccaria donde se alojó Manzoni. Seguimos a
Argegno, un pueblo pintoresco atravesado por el to-
rrente Telo donde se alzan la iglesia de Santa Anna y
el oratorio de San Rocco, el cual guarda unos frescos
sublimes. Después de pasar varios pueblos y muchos
túneles, alcanzamos Cernobbio donde visitamos la Vi-
lla d’Este, una antigua edificación del siglo XVI trans-
formada en hotel de lujo frecuentado por príncipes y
actores, donde los salones y habitaciones están de-
corados con muebles de la época. El pueblo, situado
al pie del monte Bisbino, invita a recorrer sus calles
empinadas adornadas por elegantes tiendas, cafés y
restaurantes, su iglesia y la Piazza con su puerto. Es el
lugar que eligió George Clooney para comprar su Villa.
Finalmente alcanzamos la ciudad de Como, al
fondo del golfo, para descubrir el centro histórico ro-
deado por su antigua muralla. Fue un placer deambu-
lar por sus callejones donde se siente una vida muy
mediterránea descubriendo sus hermosos palacetes
como Villa Olmo y el Duomo. Esa imponente cate-
dral que data del siglo XIV, se terminó de construir en

esque origin, probably the second century AD,
it used to be attached to a hospital that housed
pilgrims in medieval times. The chapel looks Ro-
manesque architecture but what stands out is
its unique steeple. Nearby is Giulino di Mezzegra
where Mussolini and his mistress were arrested
and executed in 1945.

tinue to Argegno, a picturesque village crossed by
the Telo streamwhere you can admire the church of
Santa Anna and the oratory of San Rocco, that has
sublime frescoes. After passing several towns and
many tunnels, we reach Cernobbio where we visited
the Villa d’Este, an ancient seventeenth century
building transformed into a luxury hotel frequent-
ed by princes and actors, where the halls and rooms
are decorated with period furniture. The village at
the foot of Mount Bisbino, invites you to explore its
steep streets adorned by elegant shops, cafes and
restaurants, its church and Piazza with its port. It’s
where George Clooney chose to purchase his Villa.
Finally we reached the city of Como, at the bot-
tom of the gulf, to discover the historic center sur-
rounded by its ancient wall. It was a pleasure to
wander through the alleys where life is veryMediter-
ranean feel, to discover its beautiful mansions like
Villa Olmo and the Duomo. This impressive cathedral
dating from the fourteenth century, was completed
