Bellagio, uno de los pueblos más turísticos y concu-
rridos de la región, con sus empinados callejones que
llevan al muelle donde se instalan los turistas para co-
mer, disfrutar de la vista con unos helados, gozar del
ambiente refinado y recorrer las elegantes tiendas.
Aquí comimos en Villa Serbelloni, ese maravilloso lu-
gar transformada en soberbio hotel donde se alojaron
Churchill y Kennedy, entre los más famosos. Los nu-
merosos hoteles y restaurantes miran el vaivén de los
ferries que llevan a Tremezzo que se encuentra justo
del otro lado del muelle.
Seguimos nuestra ruta, pasando la punta y siguien-
do el brazo oriental del lago en medio de una vegeta-
ción diferente, pasando por Lecco donde destacan los
lugares quemencionaManzoni en su novela Los novios.
Seguimos por la autopista el lago hacia el norte hasta
llegar a Varenna, uno de los pueblos mejor conservados
del lago, justo al punto donde se juntan los tres brazos.
Sus calles son escalonadas con pasarelas, conservan el
aire medieval y albergan la encantadora iglesia de San
Giorgio (siglo XIV) con su magnífico retablo. Destacan
more charming than the other, in that narrow and
deep part of the lake, to reach Bellagio, one of the vil-
lages and popular resorts in the region, with its steep
narrow streets leading to the dock where tourists
go to eat, enjoy the view with some ice cream, enjoy
the refined atmosphere and visit the elegant shops.
Here we ate at Villa Serbelloni, that wonderful place
transformed into a magnificent hotel that hosted
Churchill and Kennedy, among the most famous-
guests. The many hotels and restaurants watch the
comings and goings of ferries for the Tremezzo, is
right across the pier.
We continue our route, from the tip and along
the eastern arm of the lake in the middle of a dif-
ferent vegetation, to Lecco that incluyes the places
mentioned by Manzoni in his novel The Betrothed.
We follow the lake highway north to reach Varenna,
one of the best preserved villages of the lake, just
to the point where they meet the three arms. Its
streets are staggered with walkways, preserving
the medieval atmosphere and cherish the beautiful
church of San Giorgio (fourteenth century) with its
