• Uno de los sitios más espectaculares que hemos
visto en el mundo es la impresionante y poca cono-
cida cueva de Jeita. Ubicada en las afueras de Beirut,
tiene acceso a través de un funicular y es tan gran-
de que en su parte baja tiene un río interior en el
cual se puede navegar en balsas. Verdaderamente
recomendable. El único “pero” es que no permiten
tomar fotografías dentro. Mejor aún, así nos esfor-
zaremos por recordar este hermoso lugar.
• El cedro es el árbol ícono de este país. Con su ma-
dera se construyó la flota mercante del pueblo fe-
nicio, orgullo local. Sin embargo, también es cierto
que estos peculiares árboles casi se acabaron en
las montañas del entorno. Hay algunas reservas
que buscan rescatar la riqueza arborícola nacional.
La más cercana a Beirut es Al-Shouf, donde puede
caminar a la sombra de estos árboles.
• El Antilíbano es una cadena montañosa que reco-
