Si las pistas de esquí de la localidad de Al Arz están a
una hora y media en automóvil desde Beirut, las de Fara-
ya o Fakra están a sólo cuarenta y cinco minutos. Allí se
conjuga el placer de esquiar con el de visitar las grutas de
Jeita, que son una de las maravillas naturales del mundo.
Las grutas de Jeita, que se extienden por varios kilóme-
tros dentro de la montaña, tienen dos pisos: el superior,
de4km, quecontiene lasmayoresestalactitasdelmundo,
dejando perplejo al observador; en el piso inferior, además
de las estalactitas, hay un río que desemboca en el mar.
If the slopes of the town of Al Arz are an hour and
a half drive from Beirut, the Faraya or Fakra are only
forty-five minutes away. Where we find the conjunc-
tion of skiing combined with the pleasure of visiting
the Jeita caves, which are one of the natural wonders
of the world. The Jeita caves extend for several kilo-
meters inside themountain, it has two floors: the up-
per with 4 km, contains the biggest stalactites in the
world, leaving the viewer puzzled, on the lower floor,
there is a river that flows into the sea.
