The building that covers practically all the east side
of theRedSquare is the State Store (GUMfor its abbrevia-
tion in Russian). The construction of neo-Russian style

in a steel structure like the style of the train stations in
London and Paris. During the end of the XIXth century
and beginning of the XXth century, this elegant store
was one of themost importantmarkets inMoscow.
