odo empezó en una humilde posada constru-
ida en 1638 y que pocos años después se fue
extendiendo hasta la ribera del río Amstel. El
nombre del rio deriva del antiguo neerlandés Aeme
stelle que significa área con abundante agua o lo que
es lo mismo, “dique del rio Amstel” dando así el nom-
bre a la ciudad de Ámsteler-damme.
El centenario hotel De L’Europe, bautizado así en
1896, es hoy en día un lujoso hotel de cinco estrellas
de los más reconocidos en Europa. Es miembro de The
Leading Hotels of the World hace más de 25 años y
también figura en el Hot List de Condé Nast Traveler
por su legado, elegancia e idílica ubicación en el cora-
zón de la ciudad.
Tras una amplia remodelación reabrió sus puertas
en la primavera de 2011.
Situado a la sombra de la Torre Munt y con vista
al hermoso río Amstel, originalmente construido en el
edificio Rondeel emblemático tesoro del siglo XIX. De
L’Europe es a menudo denominado como el otro “Pala-
cio Real de Ámsterdam”.
Entro e inmediatamente me otorga un oasis de
tranquilidad, en una atmósfera llena de sofisticación y
gusto refinado, con un diseño atemporal y elegancia
clásica que incita una decoración distintiva. Basándose
en su amplia historia me abraza en un ambiente íntimo
con obras originales de los maestros holandeses de la
colección privada de Alfredo “Freddy” Heineken, que
reflejan la captura de la esencia misma de Ámsterdam.
A lo largo de su historia, ha sido visitado por la elite
de Ámsterdam y sigue atrayendo a las personalidades
más célebres del mundo.
Después de tanto asombro entro a mi habitación
y me encuentro con un ambiente acogedor y lleno de
confort. Elementos de diseño clásico y de lujo, lo úl-
timo en tecnología, incluyendo un iPod dock, sistema
de sonido envolvente Bose y acceso a internet de alta
velocidad, me rodeo de comodidades como: calefac-
ción por suelo radiante y detección de movimiento de
iluminación baja, ventanas de doble cristal que me ga-
rantizan una estancia tranquila, sin embargo, esto no
para aquí; una vista maravillosa del centro de la ciudad
y del patio interior esperan a ser observadas.

t all began with a humble inn built in 1638, few
years later it started its expantion toward the
Riviera of the Amstel River. The name of the
river derives from the Antique dutch: Aeme Stelle,
which means area with abundant water or “dam of
the Amstel river” granting with it the name of the
city Amsteler-damme.
The centenary of De L’Europe hotel, baptized in
1896, is today a grand luxurious five star hotel, one
of the most recognized in Europe. It is a member of

After a deep re modelation it opened its doors
once again in the spring of 2011.
Situated alongside the shadow of Munt Tower,
with a beautiful sight of the Amstel River, originaly
built as the emblematic Rondeel building, a treasure

As I enter I am immediately granted with an oasis
of tranquility, wrapped inanatmosphere full of sophis-
tication and refined taste, with a temporal design and
classic elegance that makes an incitation to distinctive
decoration. Based in its wide history it hugsme into an
intimate ambiance with original artwork from Dutch
masters from the private collection of Alfred “Freddy”
Heineken,which reflect the capture of Amsterdam’s es-
sence itself. Throughout its history, it has been visited
bytheeliteofAmsterdamandkeepsattractingthemost
recognizedpersonalities andcelebrities of theglobe.
After so much astonishment I came into my
room and found a cozy space full of comfort. El-
ements of classic design and luxury, the latest
technology, including an iPod dock, Bose surround
sound system and access to high speed internet,
surround myself with conveniences such as under
floor heating technologies and a low light motion
sensor, windows double glass make the promise of
a quiet stay, yet this does not stop here, a wonder-
ful view of downtown and the inner courtyard are
waiting to be seen.
