Aquí también se encuentra La Bocca della Verità, la
leyenda cuenta que se utilizaba para determinar si una
persona decía la verdad metiendo la mano a la boca de
la escultura, si estaba mintiendo perdía la mano al ser
mordido por ésta.
El Circo Máximo es otro de los lugares emblemáti-
cos y está ubicado en el Aventino. Este parque de forma
oval solía ser el estadio más grande de la antigua Roma.
En él se llevaban a cabo las carreras de caballos con ca-
rruajes, desde los cuales los competidores luchaban a
muerte por ganar la competencia. El CircoMáximo tenía
una capacidad de 300,000 espectadores y aunque hoy
en día sólo quedan sus ruinas, se sigue utilizando para
unir grandes grupos de personas, ya sea para ferias,
conciertos o para festejar a los jugadores de fútbol tras
ganar una copa de oro.

cording to legend it is said that it was used to know
if a person was telling the truth by putting their
hand inside of the sculpture, if they were lying they
would lose their hand when the sculpture bit them.
The Circus Maximus is another of the represen-
tative places and is located in the Aventine. This
park of oval shape used to be the largest stadium of
ancient Rome. In it the races of horses with chariots
would take place, and from those same chariots the
contestants would fight to death to win the match.
The CircusMaximus had a capacity for 300,000 spec-
tators and although today only its ruins remain, it
is still being used to gather large groups of persons,
either for holding fairs, concerts or to celebrate the
soccer players after winning a Gold Cup.

La historia y la vitalidad juegan un rol muy importante
en la vida de los romanos. Cada fuente, iglesia, mo-
numento o templo se mantiene vivo a través de sus
ciudadanos y de la historia que van tejiendo a la ver-
sión preexistente, esto le añade un matiz diferente
conforme va pasando el tiempo.
Roma desde su inicio estuvo destinada a ser el
lugar elegido por los dioses para conquistar el mun-
do; durante el Imperio lograron llegar hasta Egipto
y el Medio Oriente y ahora no es la excepción, Roma
ha conquistado al mundo entero con su belleza,
arte y arquitectura. La cualidad más impresionante
que tiene es que no obstante ser una ciudad relati-
vamente pequeña, en Roma se encuentran reunidas
un gran número de obras de varios de los estilos
artísticos: clásico, etrusco, renacimiento, barroco,
neoclásico y futurismo, entre otros. Todos estos
estilos se mezclan y se van actualizando conforme
va pasando el tiempo, para darle a la ciudad y a sus
habitantes un bagaje cultural envidiable.
Past, present and futurism
The history and vitality play a very important role
in the life of the Romans. Every fountain, church,
monument or temple is kept alive through its citi-
zens and through the history they keep knitting
over the preexistent version, this adds a different
hue as time passes by.
Rome from its beginnings was fated to be the
place chosen by the gods to conquer the world;
during the Empire they managed to reach down to
Egypt and the Middle East and today is no excep-
tion, Rome has conquered the whole world with its
beauty, art and architecture. The most impressive
quality it has, is that despite of being a relatively
small city, in Rome one can find a great number
of works of several of the artistic styles: Classical,
Etruscan, Renaissance, Baroque, Neoclassical, and
futurism, among others. All these styles get mixed
and they get updated as time passes, in order to
provide the city and its inhabitants an enviable
cultural baggage.
