The Caves of Jeitta
19 kilometers from Beirut in the Valley of Nahr
Al - Kalb two interconnected limestone caves with
a total length of approximately 9 kilometers are
found. It is a tourist spot of great interest, which
private companies handle that manage the site for
visitors in order to comfortably enjoy your tour.
The cave floor is necessarily visit by boat, it is
submerged in the channels of an underground river,

Las Grutas de Jeitta
A19 kilómetros de Beirut, en el Valle deNahr Al –Kalb,
se encuentran dos cavernas de piedra caliza interconecta-
das, con una longitud total aproximada de 9 kilómetros.
Es un sitio turístico de gran interés, que manejan en con-
cesión empresas privadas que arreglaron el sitio para que
el visitante goce con comodidad su recorrido.
La gruta baja se visita forzosamente en barca, pues
se encuentra sumergida en los canales de un río subte-
rráneo, que abastece de agua potable a más de un millón
de libaneses. La dimensión de esta gruta podría alcanzar
ocho kilómetros. La gruta alta tiene una creativa ilumina-
ción, lo que la hace un lugar fascinador, pues la coloración
realza las estalactitas y estalagmitas. Por la gran cantidad
de turistas, fueron acondicionadas las galerías superiores
para caminar en medio de una fluorescencia de pilares,
columnatas y cristales de colores que sugieren figuras o
macizos conflores y corales. Tanta belleza es imposible de
describir, hay que visitarla.
Funciona una telecabina, una sala de cine que proyec-
ta su historia, así como cafeterías y tiendas de recuerdos.
Además de ser un símbolo nacional y un destino turístico
por excelencia, desempeña un papel económico y cultural
importante, y está siendo rehabilitada para ofrecer una
sala de conciertos en el interior de la cueva.
