The Authentic Netherlands
Just a short drive north of Amsterdam will
take you to some of the most authentic spots of
the Netherlands. Here not only can you visit the
world’s first industrial center, Zaanse Schans, but
also feel the authentic atmosphere of many no-
table towns along the IJsselmeer. Here in Zaanse
Schans you can let the XXI century go. The tra-
ditional wooden houses of the seventeenth and
eighteenth century are mostly painted green and
white, the streets are tree-lined, cobbled wind-
mills flank the river and picturesque humpback
bridges cross small channels. The atmosphere is
one of peace and tranquility. It is an outdoors mu-
seum, however, it is a true community, a city that
lives and works.
La Autentica Holanda
Sólo un corto trayecto en coche al norte de Am-
sterdam le llevará a algunos de los lugares más autén-
ticos de Holanda. Aquí no solamente puede visitar el
primer centro industrial del mundo, Zaanse Schans,
sino también sentir el ambiente auténtico de muchos
pueblos notables a lo largo del IJsselmeer. Aquí en
Zaanse Schans puede dejar el siglo XXI atrás. Las tra-
dicionales casas de madera del siglo XVII y XVIII son en
su mayoría pintadas de verde y blanco, las calles son
arboladas y empedradas, molinos de viento flanquean
el río y pintorescos puentes jorobados cruzan peque-
ños canales. El ambiente es de paz y tranquilidad. Es
algo más que un museo al aire libre sin embargo, se
trata de una verdadera comunidad, una ciudad que
vive y trabaja.
